Spirit of The Mekong (an eco educational journey)

In March 2015, with the Gaia School Asia Team, I participated on an incredible eco-educational journey called the Spirit of The Mekong in Laos and Thailand.
For the full story, please see :

It was an amazing learning experience, and I am so happy to have contributed to the artwork and images that we used as part of the learning process.
Here is the full, downloadable Materials and Process Document which includes step-by-step instructions, descriptions, photos, flashcards, posters and other images to be used as teaching resources.
I hope that this material will be of benefit to Mother Earth and all who live here.

I was also really honoured to draw the new logo for Gaia School Asia!

Reflections on a Turning World

In April 2015, I also self-published a collection of travel writing and poetry called Reflections on a Turning World.

It is available to order on amazon.com and createspace.com (in the US)

An Earth-lovers collection of travel writing, poetry, reflections and inspirational prose with full colour photographic images. Reflections on a Turning World, takes us on a journey from gratitude and honouring our pain for the world, to seeing with new eyes and going forth. Written over 10 years of travels to many different places, it contains deep insights about our connection to nature, to each other and the world we move in, inspires deep questioning, and encourages the reader to see the world with new eyes.

Tread Lightly (an exert form the Reflections on a Turning World)

Tread lightly, for every step
is sacred.
Each leaf released,
blown in the breeze,
drifting in spirals
downwards
to the forest floor,
like the footsteps
of unseen beings,
land gently
accepting the changes
with grace.

Each bird call,
buzz of insect,
beat of the butterfly's wings,
makes the sunlight dance
the sacred dance
of sound and movement.
Leaves whispering messages
to hearts who listen.

Tread gently,
for each step is sacred
as the breaths
which form clouds
which travel over continents
to bring rain.
Our breathing can be a prayer,
that this rain may quench thirsts
nourish soils and roots
to transform into fruits
sweet and juicy.

Tread gently,
on the tiny herbs in the meadows,
the grasses,
the tunnels of ants nests
below,
deep in the earth
worms are trembling
under our footsteps.

Know the impact
of your heartbeat
thundering
in a silent cave.
Listen for answers
in the echoes.
Look for healing
in the mirror
your thoughts are creating.

Tread lightly
on this sacred ground,
move gently
through the clear sky,
swim gracefully
in the waters of life,
let the fire mould you,
transform you
for the healing of our world.

Tread lightly,
as you cover her with concrete.
Breathe deeply,
as you dig and mine her rocks
for dusty fuel.
Look closely,
as you rip up her forests,
enslave her creatures
for food you do not taste.
Listen deeply,
as you turn up your music
to block out the silent
weeping of the rivers,
our lonely oceans asking,
"Where have the whales gone?"
Our city children asking,
"Why can we no longer see the stars?"
Our empty desert wondering,
"Where are the shadows of the birds
who used to fly over me each turning season?"
Our mighty mountains searching the snowline
for once-great glaciers,
for blue lakes that held crystal memories...
now dry and brittle.

Tread gently,
knowing we are blessed to be here now,
to bear witness to what is left,
to gather blessings from our ancestors,
to harvest gifts
still hidden deep in our cells,
to remember,
to remind each other,
that we are not here
because of wars and bombs.
We are here
because we have listened
to the call to let life move through us,
because we have chosen
to feel what it is to be human,
to make peace with ourselves
and the earth that supports us..

Go forward, gently,
in peace,
for healing,
for our power is

immeasurable.
